How to turn off Articles for your past search queries

If you are using Google Chrome on Android and are seeing your past search queries on the new tab page, it is because Chrome has a feature called "Articles for you" that displays personalized content based on your browsing history and search queries. This feature can be useful for discovering new content, but if you prefer to keep your search queries private or don't want to see personalized content, you can disable the feature.

To turn off the "Articles for you" feature and stop seeing past search queries on the new tab page in Chrome on Android, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Chrome app on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Settings" from the menu.
  4. Scroll down and tap on "New Tab page" under the "Basics" section.
  5. Toggle off the "Articles for you" option.

Query Tiles is a feature in Google Chrome for Android that suggests frequently visited websites and searches based on your browsing history. This feature is enabled by default in Chrome and appears on the New Tab page, but you can turn it off if you prefer.

To turn off Query Tiles in Chrome for Android, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Chrome app on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Settings" from the menu.
  4. Scroll down and tap on "New Tab page" under the "Basics" section.
  5. Toggle off the "Suggestions" option.

Once you have disabled the "Suggestions" option, the New Tab page will no longer display frequently visited websites or suggested searches based on your browsing history. If you ever want to turn the feature back on, simply toggle the "Suggestions" option back on in the Chrome settings.

Note that there is also a Query Tiles flag that you can disable in Chrome's experimental settings, but it is not recommended to modify flags unless you know what you're doing. However, it is safer to turn off the feature using the steps outlined above in the Chrome settings.

To turn off Query Tiles in Chrome for Android, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open Chrome and type "chrome://flags" in the address bar.
  2. Search for "Query Tiles" using the search bar at the top of the page.
  3. Select "Disabled" from the dropdown menu for the "Query Tiles" option.
  4. Restart Chrome for the changes to take effect.
After disabling Query Tiles, the New Tab page will no longer display suggested queries based on your browsing history. If you ever want to turn Query Tiles back on, you can simply go back to chrome://flags and select "Default" or "Enabled" from the dropdown menu for the "Query Tiles" option.
