How to change refresh rate: Step-by-Step Guide

The refresh rate of a monitor is the number of times per second that the screen is redrawn. Higher refresh rates can result in smoother motion and less eye strain, but not all monitors support high refresh rates. If your monitor supports a higher refresh rate than what is currently set in Windows 10, changing the refresh rate can improve your visual experience. Here's how to change the refresh rate in Windows 10:

1. Open Display Settings

Right-click on your desktop and select "Display settings" from the context menu.

2. Click on Advanced display settings

Scroll down to the bottom of the Display settings window and click on "Advanced display settings."

3. Click on Display adapter properties for Display 1

Under the "Related settings" section, click on "Display adapter properties for Display 1."

4. Click on Monitor tab

In the Properties window that appears, click on the "Monitor" tab.

5. Change Refresh rate

Under "Monitor Settings," you'll see a drop-down menu labeled "Screen refresh rate." Click on the drop-down menu and select the refresh rate that you want to use. If your monitor supports a higher refresh rate than what is listed, it will appear in the drop-down menu.

6. Apply Changes

Click "Apply" to save the changes. If the new refresh rate works well, click "Keep changes" to make it the default refresh rate. If the new refresh rate doesn't work or causes issues, Windows will automatically revert to the previous setting after 15 seconds.

And that's it! You've successfully changed the refresh rate in Windows 10. Keep in mind that not all monitors support high refresh rates, so it's important to check your monitor's specifications before changing the refresh rate.
