Restrict Driver Update for a specific device in Windows 10

You can restrict driver updates for a specific device in Windows 10 by using the Group Policy Editor. Here are the steps:

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type "gpedit.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
  3. In the Group Policy Editor, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Device Installation > Device Installation Restrictions.
  4. Double-click "Prevent installation of devices that match any of these device IDs".
  5. Click the "Enabled" radio button.
  6. Click the "Show" button.
  7. In the "Value" field, enter the Hardware IDs of the device(s) you want to restrict driver updates for, separating each ID with a semicolon (;). You can find the Hardware IDs for a device by opening the Device Manager, right-clicking on the device, and selecting "Properties". Then click the "Details" tab and select "Hardware IDs" from the drop-down menu.
  8. Click "OK" to save your changes.

After you complete these steps, Windows 10 will no longer automatically install drivers for the device(s) you specified. Note that this method will only prevent automatic driver updates; you can still manually install drivers for the device(s) if necessary.
