How to turn off Autoplay feature

It is good to have the Autoplay feature turned off as it protects from certain viruses that would run instantly as the USB drive is connected or a disc is inserted in the Optical Disc Drive and even when you double click on the Hard Disk Drive letter or partition. most of the time Autoplay will decrease the computer’s speed while it performs the Autoplay actions.

Windows 10

Start > Search programs and files > gpedit.msc > Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > AutoPlay Policies > Turn off Autoplay > Enabled > Turn off Autoplay on: All drives > OK > Close Local Group Policy Editor

Windows 7

Start > Search programs and files > gpedit.msc > Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > AutoPlay Policies > Turn off Autoplay > Enabled > Turn off Autoplay on: All drives > OK > Close Local Group Policy Editor

Windows XP

Start > Run > gpedit.msc > Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > AutoPlay Policies > Turn off Autoplay > Enabled > Turn off Autoplay on: All drives > OK > Close Group Policy
